This uber-rare key chain was a part of an award winning ad campaign for the Washington Apple Commission that ran in 1999-2000. Their spokesperson was a scooter-riding super-hero bearing apples.
In one ad titled “Zoo,” a father and daughter are wiped out from a long day of site seeing. Once “Apple Guy” receives the distress signal, he zooms to their rescue on his scooter carrying Washington Apples.
I seem to remember that he had flames coming out of his scooter tailpipe in one spot but alas, there don’t seem to be any videos of the spots online.
(Thanks to Cassie for this find!)
Wow – how cool that you found/knew some of the history behind that! All I had was a mystery keychain.
Just like Cassie all I had was the key chain, thanks for the info.
Now the final mystery is why the publicity still shows a cool curvy Primavera but the key chain is an angular PK XL
