From Ikea’s bedding line, this duvet cover and pillow slips are called “Eivor Leava”. The sizes are twin, king, full/queen and the set is $49.99. According to Ikea’s site, the inspiration for this comforter came from “Sweden’s rich tradition of using textiles as a means of storytelling.” By the way, “Leva” means “to live” in Swedish.

If it’s still not warm and dry where you are (say like Portland, Oregon) you may well be into cocooning and crafting until the weather gets better. Here are three fabrics worthy of quilting and whatever else strikes your sewing fancy. Prices range from $7.69 to $8.39 a yard.

Target has introduced a new children’s bedding collection and yes, it does feature scooters or perhaps moped-ish scooter-like objects. Pieces include sheet sets, quilts, duvets, valances and window panels and prices range from $16.99 to $69.99.

I always cherish it when two or more of my favorite things mash-up together. A prime example of this would be when Susie Bright, scooters and cats all came together in a beautiful collision. Susie Bright, for those who don’t know, is a sex educator and columnist. And she’s my all time favorite. (Dan Savage – you’re a close number 2.) She’s currently on a book tour for her memoir entitled “Big Sex, Little Death”

Anyhoo she came to Portland, Oregon and after corresponding with her for several years via e-mail, I got to sit down with her at a brunch at Bitch Magazine and chat a bit. She asked if I would get her coat from inside and that’s when I noticed that the cuffs and collar featured cats riding scooters. I squealed quite loudly and the photo above is the result.

Thanks Susie for sending it! The fabric is hard to find now, but diligent readers will be able to get a hold of a yard or two here and there. Good luck!

“Mykea” is a site for people who want to customize their ubiquitous Ikea furniture. The site has all kinds of transfers and iron-ons. This design is called “Ciao Bella!” and is for the “Malm” Ikea bed series. The price costs 27 – 55 Euros depending on which size you choose.

PS: Somehow I managed to forget who sent in this tip. (Thanks you whoever you are!)

Finally, you can make your own playmats complete with scooters. I have looked in vain for scooters on theme rugs and puzzles, but finally you can at least buy the fabric. The first is more of a matchbox car race track, the second, called “tossed transportation” would make a great bedspread. The fabric series is called “Going Places” and sells for $8.40 a yard. (They recommend you buy 30″ to get the complete scene.)

Just last week we posted about some adorable Monaluna fabric with just scooters. This time it’s scooters (Fuji Rabbit-ish?), some bicycles, maybe some Mobylettes and some gorgeous tail fins. Very Vroomy!

Here’s an embroidery pattern for $8.00. Wondering if you need a fancy sewing machine for this or if you can make do with just hand stitching. Couldn’t find any more from the site.

Thanks to Julie G. for this crafty find!

UPDATE: The folks at EmbroideryDesigns.com have confirmed this is for embroidery machines only. I suppose you could trace the design onto something with fabric tracing paper if you were determined.
