Here are the best sites I’ve come across with vintage scooter images and ads. Lots of good mining here for crafters and collectors alike!

Thanks to Joe B. for some of these finds.

This was in a recent eBay auction and since I’m American, I had no idea there was such a thing as a Sooty or a Sweep. I am a bit more educated now. It was a popular kids show in the UK in the 70s. Sooty is the bear and Sweep is the dog. There is also a rare Marx made friction toy out there. And I even found a YouTube video of the show for you (sans scooter . . . sigh):

I would love to get rid of the ugly Ad Sense banner ads on top of my blog and replace it with something actually pertinent to our interests. So do you own a scooter shop? Have something you’d like to advertise? Then let me know. Send me an idea and I can send you a quote for how much it would cost. (E-mail me at tips AT scooterswag.com) I can even help you write and design a banner ad for your company. I have Google Analytics reports I can forward on but just as a ballpark figure, ScooterSwag has over 1,000 unique visitors per week !

“Big Mac Tonight” was a popular McDonalds campaign in the late 80s with a crooning moon singing the praises of their menu. These “Happy Meal” toys do come available on eBay every now and then.

Thought I was well familiar with all of the scooter art albums out there but this one is new to me. Wish the whole album was of our scooterist couple, but I guess you can’t have everything. It came out in 1967 and these can be had for around $15 on eBay with shipping. There is also a CD release available on Amazon and downloads (with art) available on iTunes. Not crazy for any of the album’s music but for one song – his version of “Paint It Black” which is amazing.

Spotted by Yoni S. in a local record store. Thanks Yoni!

“Mister Pitiful” is my favorite track from this 2010 release of a 60s UK garage band’s best. This is available in both CD and vinyl for you scooter album art collectors on Amazon:

While Bradley Wiggins is racing in the Tour De France right now, he’s sitting on a picture of himself sitting on a scooter. Made by Prologo, the seat will become (hopefully) a limited edition seat available to the public. By the way, Mr. Wiggins is doing rather well right now in the Tour De France, hovering around the top five rankings. Good luck Bradley! How I would love to see a scooter boy win the race!!! ((serious swoon))

Hi all,

The publicity folks for this new scooter movie have given me a real nice prize package to give away:

A $25 gas gift card, Larry Crowne T-shirt (which is a very cool silhouette of a P200 by the way) & a notebook.

If you live in the States and want to see the film then be the first to e-mail me your mailing address at tips (at) scooterswag.com and you’ll be the winner!

The movie opens today (July 1) and rumor has it whoever wrote the script for this movie must of hung out with the real scooter crowd in LA as the characters go to some of the very same places and go on the same rides.

Here’s a trailer:

Good luck!

And we have a winner! Karen J. in Maryland sent me an e-mail at 1:14 pm today. Congrats Karen!

We’re at five years and over 5,000 unique visitors too!
So here are some scooter cakes to celebrate.

Thanks to ScooterSwag’s own Cassie for finding these photos.

These stamps from Guinea Bissau were issued in 2008 and feature both vintage and modern Vespas as well as an assortment of Odd Scoots like the Peugeot (labeled incorrectly as a Vespa) and a Rumi. And they’re pretty easy to find using the Google thingamabob. Prices seem to be well under $10 per sheet.

Thanks to Julie G. for this find!
