Artist Michael Johannson transforms everyday objects into “toy models” of themselves. His subjects range from very large objects like cars all the way down to hair dryers and other small home appliances.

If it’s still not warm and dry where you are (say like Portland, Oregon) you may well be into cocooning and crafting until the weather gets better. Here are three fabrics worthy of quilting and whatever else strikes your sewing fancy. Prices range from $7.69 to $8.39 a yard.

Couldn’t resist posting about my scooter making the cover of Scoot! Magazine. It’s all the sweeter because this is the last (sniffle) printed issue of Scoot Magazine. It’s due to go digital. Good luck to Josh, April and the rest of Scoot’s staff on their new venture.

Got a nice note from the folks at “I am scooterist” who wanted ScooterSwaggers to know about their new brand that includes some terrific t-shirts:
“Hi, we are two friends that love the classic scooter and some time ago decided to do something fun for this hobbie of ours. Basically ‘I’m scooterist’ is a concept that identifies all people who love and enjoy the classic scooter. So far we have designed a series of t-shirts, and we are looking forward to make other things related to the scooter world. That’s why are trying to work with people involved in this area with new ideas and interesting initiatives.”
Their website is great fun to look through. For example, are you curious to know what a scooter rally in Madrid looks like? Then click here:

Christmas is still six months away, but I couldn’t resist posting about this card I happened on while looking for something else. It measures 4.5″x 6.25″ and 8 cards & envelopes are $12.00. The inside line is as shown: “Have a Dashing Christmas.” Not your typical holiday sentiment. Even better is the fact that those are two women on the Lambretta!

Plasticland calls these the “Miss Mod” earrings. I call them pretty dang cute. They are enamel over gold plate. The helmet measures 1/2″ x 1/2″, the scooter measures 3/4″ x 1″, and total drop length for the earrings is 1.5″. Of course if you didn’t want them as earrings, these would make perfect charms for a necklace or bracelet. They’re $21.00, so a great price for such detailed charms.

We’re at five years and over 5,000 unique visitors too!
So here are some scooter cakes to celebrate.
Thanks to ScooterSwag’s own Cassie for finding these photos.

This Week’s Rare Bit O’Swag:
Portland Spring Scoot Rally Patch
Posted by Tracy under Club Affiliated , MiscellaneousComments Off
The pros and cons of the (typically) American embroidered rally patch vs. the UK “Paddy Smith” silk screened fabric patch could prolly be discussed endlessly but I had to include one of the best patches I’ve seen in years here in this blog. Twist n Play Scooter Club here in Portland really outdid themselves with this one. Why the Lolita them? Because it was their 17th rally so the theme was “almost legal.” (Wink wink!)

Spotted this card at a Kinkos/Fed Ex store.
The inside reads: “it’s good to have friends along for the ride.”
