A Really, Really Rare Bit O’Swag:
Vespa Motorsport on Toy Hunter

Vespa Motorsport Toy Hunter Mattel Scooter

Watch Toy Hunter clip here.

This was a fun clip to watch even though I am still not sure why anyone would want a “Tytus.” I am also amazed when companies don’t keep archives of their products, past and present. But it’s a lot more common for them to forget their past in an effort just to keep up with the present. I think all companies need a docent/librarian.

Winx Club Scooter Vespa Toy Bloom Puzzle

It seems like no more than a month or two passes before I discover another kid’s show featuring scooters. This time it’s an Italian show even though it looks like it came straight from the shores of Japan.

Here’s a description of what the “Winx Club” is all about according to Wikipedia:

“Winx Club is an action and fantasy show combined with comedic elements. In the mystical dimension of Magix, three special schools educate modern fairies, ambitious witches and supernatural warriors, and wizards from all over the magical universe.”

Oh and Bloom (the main character) rides a scooter.

You can get Bloom doll with her bright pink scooter for $20 on the ToysRUS site. The puzzle was featured in a recent eBay auction and is harder to find.

Watch the TV Commercial for the Bloom Scooter Doll in some language that is definitely not Italian.

New Mickey Mouse Short with a Scooter!

New Mickey Mouse Shorts Scooter Vespa

A new series of shorts premiered in June this year on the Disney Channel and one of them is all scooter. It’s called “Croissant de Triomphe” and the heroic scooter makes the most adorable noises I’ve ever heard come out of any bike . . . animated or real.

Let’s hope that there are more French Mickey Mouse shorts and scooter toys are not far behind.

To check out the background story on the shorts here .

And watch “Croissant de Triomphe” here .

A Rare Bit O’Swag:
Scooby Doo Mystery Machine Ghost Patrol

Scooby Doo Ska Rude Boy Vespa Lambretta Mod Mystery Machine Ghost Patrol Scooter Toy

Have you been good girls and boys over the summer? Well here’s a cartoon and a toy for you. The cartoon is called “Rude Boy Lives” and is from the new Scooby Doo series “Mystery Incorporated.” It actually features ska loving scooter riding skeletons chasing down the usual suspects. It’s a-mah-zing. The toy is called the “Mystery Machine Ghost Patrol” and features a scooterish object to help Shaggy capture ghosties. It came out a few years ago so it’s not impossible to find.

Dead Ahead iPhone/iPad game

Dead Ahead Video Game Vespa Scooter iPhone iPad

I’m not a gamer so I am useless as to whether this is a cool Apple app or not. But it’s FREE so why not give it a try?

And in the meantime I will give you this hilarious review from bunchofgamers.com :

“Colour me excited … Dead Ahead isn’t even a runner, as it gives you increasingly awesome transportation methods and releases you in one of the zombie-infested areas of a city, with a clear direction to move to the right, destroying as many empty shells of human beings on your way, as possible – it’s not hugely different from driving in my suburbs, really … The controls are really simple: just slide your finger upwards and downwards on the right side of the screen and your hero will drive accordingly, evading obstacles and hitting zombies – if you’re fast enough, of course. This would already be an awesome idea, but to add fuel to the fire, you are also constantly being chased by zombies that are so eager to munch on your insides that they get completely oblivious to their surroundings, just like rabid kittens.”

Ooh that last picture is scary. So glad I don’t have to outrun that hoard on my 3 speed VBA.

This app will work on iPhone 3GS to iPhone 5, 3rd to 5th Gen iPod Touch and on iPads. Requires iOS 4.3 or later. Here’s a link to download the app for the iPhone.

Tank Girl is a scooter girl.

Tank Girl Vespa Scooter Bad Wind Rising Poster Magazine 2

I have always had a fondness for “Tank Girl” although I don’t think I’ve ever sat down and read an entire comicbook. I’ve just seen frames from the books and of course the Lori Petty movie which people seem to love or loathe. I loved it because at the time it was really freakin’ rare to see women kick ass. I do remember that the target roundel showed up here and there but I didn’t even know what that was about at the time. I just thought she was making herself a target which fit in with her M.O. perfectly. I also didn’t think of her riding a scooter. A yak-like animal and well, a tank. So I was very happy to come across these images and things all started clicking into place. It is a British comic after all.

The poster magazine up top is available for £6.99 at this site.

The other cover can be considered a bit of Rare Swag but the tenacious among you will no doubt find it.

And for a little mid 90s nostalgia, watch the Tank Girl trailer here.
